Welcome to Arcadia, California.
A city of southern California, a residential suburb of Los Angeles at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. Population: 55,400. Manufactures include electronic equipment, fabricated metal products, pharmaceuticals, furniture, motors, and machinery. The Santa Anita racetrack and an arboretum are there. The Arboretum of Los Angeles County is also located in Arcadia. With a proud heritage and a reputation of achieving a good balance of quality economic development, superior public services and a "community of homes" atmosphere, the City of Arcadia is steeped in history and poised for the future. A city with established traditions and high expectations, Arcadia remains true to its mission of maintaining top quality, safe neighborhoods that exist in concert with the natural environment and a diverse population that is committed to involvement and volunteerism. Widely regarded as one of the most scenic spots in the state, Arcadia combines the best of modern living with traditional American values. Its friendly atmosphere, progressive spirit and pro-active business climate make Arcadia an ideal place to live, work and play.
As you would expect in a community honored as a Tree City U.S.A., Arcadia is filled with lush, quiet neighborhoods. Known as the "Community of Homes," this city of 53,054 encompasses about 11 square miles. It's close enough to Los Angeles to be convenient for work or leisure activities, yet removed enough to provide a respite from the hustle and bustle of big-city life. Throughout its 100-year history, Arcadia has remained true to its mission of maintaining safe, top-quality neighborhoods in harmony with the natural environment. The city takes pride in a diverse population committed to involvement and volunteerism. Arcadia's numerous amenities include parks, hiking, backpacking, golf, excellent shopping and dining, and top-notch accommodations. Outdoor enthusiasts have easy access to the San Gabriel Valley, the San Gabriel Mountains, breathtaking beaches and majestic deserts. The L.A. County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, located in Arcadia, provides visitors with 127 spectacular acres of specialty gardens and historic buildings. Santa Anita Race Track is probably the finest thoroughbred racing facility in the country, and perhaps in the world. The California Philharmonic's Festival on the Green is presented at the LACO Arboretum on 10 saturday nights every summer; also every summer the city provides free concerts at City Hall.
